Blue Mountain

blue mountain under eagle

Blue mountain circle
walls my valley home
dew ripe meadow green
bedding for my soul
granite cliffs rise
clouds as pillow be
river of time winding
mountain to the sea

eagle flies to sunlight
above blue mountain top
oak and pine wave goodbye
nature does not stop
me I rest in my place
just an ant or bumble bee
no higher place do I claim
in nature’s hierarchy

blue mountain skyward rock
dream a mountain dream
while you create great waters
from once a tiny stream
a home for all God’s creatures
a haven to find rest
blue mountain is my love
tis there I make my nest

protected from all elements
nourished heart and soul
a cradle for my birth
comfort when I grow old
many teachings you will give
as shown your awesome way
trail is long to reach your height
I’ll make it there someday

I pray to you blue mountain great
a tribute through the age
time will come and time will pass
as do words with their sage
true desire ever burns
as I gaze your majesty
it is here I wish to lay my head
for all eternity.
