Mason’s Temple

Mason was a devoted son from a very old family. His father a mighty man, wise and knowledgeable, a leader of the village. His father had mastered the art of stone carving. Mason Senior had built the first temple. Mason was given the name of his father and of his first great work, Mason’s Temple. Mason’s mother was a kind and compassionate woman. She was a healer and helper to all who lived in the village. They were a prosperous family always willing to share what they had to any in need.

One day Mason asked his father to teach him. “Father can you teach me your great work, that of building the temple.” His father smiled, he had been waiting for this day a long time. “Son,” Master Mason replied, “I will share everything with you, everything you want to know, starting with the sacred geometry.” “I will teach you how to build your temple, brick by brick, crafted stone by stone. I will teach you the ways of a stone mason. You will build a temple much greater than mine.”

Mason Senior sat his son down upon a rock. “Son,” the father said, “before you build your temple, here is what I would like you to know.” He looked up to the sky and stated, “The universe is the greatest temple reflecting itself.” “When you build your great temple include a stairway, a stairway to heaven. And remember, this stairway will not be built of brick and mortar. It will be built of loving acts and your temple will be built with your mind.”

Young Mason was confused by this insight. He repeated, “Father, please teach me.” The senior Mason saw the concern upon his son and smiled, “Do not worry my dear one.” “All things become clear with time and you have all the time you need. Let’s begin with this, the Holy Spirit loves you. It has given you a gift, the gift of your mind. That is why we build our temple for the temple houses the mind. You see the record states ‘Spirit is the life, Mind is the builder, and the Physical is the result.’”

Young Mason smiled, “Tell me more father.” Mason Senior stood grand and tall. “Son,” he said, “I will teach you the Divine Wisdom which was given to our people many millenniums ago.” “I will teach you the wisdom of the seed. How it is planted, cultivated, and harvested. All of this great work is done in the temple of your mind. Our language tells us the word cultus means both agriculture and worship. The seed gives birth. We get down on our knees to plant the seed and we do the same to worship. We pray for birth in the temple. We grow, tend, and cultivate the seed. We reap the plant in a ritual death to sustain life. We replant the seed and pray for rebirth. We carefully tend our crop from birth to death. We then worship in the temple.”

Young Mason became excited with knowledge of the seed. “Father,” he requested, “please tell me more of the seed.” The great and senior Mason explained, “Son, you will learn to meditate on this and every other knowledge.” “Then you will pray and connect. You will thank Spirit for the seed. You will enter your temple with awareness and balance. These are the brick and mortar which support your temple.”

Mason was simply delighted by knowledge imparted from the father. His father explained that all symbols in the temple were actually symbols Mason had created himself. They were all signs to awaken Mason to his calling, that of building a great temple. Father explained that with mindful awareness Mason would create this great temple. Mason had one more question of his father. “Father,” he asked, “tell me more of the seed, what is its meaning and why did Spirit provide it?” The Master Mason smiled with great joy. “Son, the seed is love,” he said. “It was provided so you could be One with Spirit. Now go and build your temple and remember, the temple houses the mind, the mind houses the seed.”
