We swim in the sea of consciousness
from void of none to become one
from consciousness of One – aware of self
and with self the existence of no self –
death’s night, dark, empty and endless

behold sun glisten upon sea
bringing love of light to pure translucent day
consciousness of self moved by tidal motion
swimming in sea as we oscillate between
existence – and its known other – to not exist

what great folly we fish of reason
our meaning contained only in being
vast ocean of truth all consuming
swim self absorbed by selfish concern
the ever present need to continue to be

what foolish fish would question the ocean
beckon upon it bring no night dark to day
what foolish fish would say to the ocean
it would be perfect if you did it my way
what use is existence with fear of its loss

we are not separate consciousness from sea
ocean yield not to day or to night
truth is not commanded by sun or by moon
being not determined by tidal oscillation
it is all – and of itself – the sea of consciousness

an eternal sea, omnipotent sea
an endless sea, omnipresent sea
a sea of consciousness in light and in dark
our being, our existence, no self apart
we are all in – of itself – this sea of consciousness
